Atlético Madrid set to extend Koke’s contract!

Koke’s contract is set to expire this summer, and one of the club’s priorities is to extend the contract with this midfield stalwart.

At 32 years old, Koke intends to stay at the club where he has grown up, and Atlético Madrid also wants him to continue playing under Diego Simeone.

Both parties agree on this point and plan to reach a final agreement and resolve the contract renewal during the break without any matches.

However, the duration of Koke’s contract with Atlético Madrid will be a challenge. The club is offering a one-year extension, as it is their policy to renew the contracts of players in this age group on an annual basis.

Koke’s preference, on the other hand, is to extend his contract for two more seasons. Although this is the biggest issue at the moment, it will not affect the good relationship between the player and Atlético Madrid.

A compromise might be reached where Koke would receive an additional year of extension if he participates in a certain number of matches (more than 20).

Koke is aware that renewing the contract may involve a reduction in salary, but economic issues are not his top priority.

One of the club management’s goals is also to reduce players’ salaries to cope with the challenges of the next season.

Koke hopes to end his professional career at Atlético Madrid, where he has already made 626 appearances and still wants to contribute to the team.

Currently, Koke and the entire team are most concerned about whether they can secure a top-four position in La Liga this season to ensure participation in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Koke has already made 626 appearances for Atlético Madrid, and if he continues under Simeone, he could reach 700 appearances.

According to “AS,” when Koke made his debut on September 19, 2009, no one could have imagined this number.

Since then, this academy player has firmly established himself at Atlético Madrid. Koke has won 8 titles, just 2 short of Adelardo’s record of 10 titles.

Among Koke’s teammates at Atlético Madrid, Diego Godín has also won 8 titles. Players like Carrasco, Felipe Luis, Raúl García, and Juanfran have won 7 titles during their time at the club.
