Nightmare for Neuer! Three Critical Mistakes Shock Fans

In this round of the UEFA Champions League, Bayern suffered a crushing 1-4 defeat away to Barcelona.

Bayern Munich 1-4 Barca

Bayern’s starting goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, had a disastrous performance in this match.

Neuer’s worst game!

Just one minute into the game, Barcelona broke the deadlock as Raphinha found himself in a one-on-one situation with Neuer.

The Brazilian calmly rounded Neuer and slotted the ball into the empty net, putting Bayern behind 0-1 early on.

Concedes just 1 minute into the match

In the 36th minute, Bayern’s defense made consecutive errors. Kim Min-jae misjudged a high ball, and Neuer’s attempt to rush out and clear also failed to reach the ball.

Fermín set up Lewandowski, who scored to make it 1-2.

Neuer’s erroneous clearance!

In the 45th minute, Raphinha struck again, curling the ball into the net as Neuer could only watch, making it 1-3.

Neuer concedes again!

In the 56th minute, Raphinha once more faced Neuer in a one-on-one situation. The Brazilian forward calmly slotted the ball into the far corner, sealing the 1-4 scoreline.

Neuer concedes 4 goals!

The stats show that Barcelona only had four shots on target throughout the entire match, and all four resulted in goals.

In other words, Neuer failed to make a single save in his 90 minutes on the pitch.

4 shoots 4 goals!

Every shot on target turned into a goal, earning him the unfortunate nickname of “the keeper of conceded shots.”

According to advanced statistics, Neuer’s expected goals prevented (xG-P) in this game was 1.89.

He touched the ball 58 times but made three crucial errors.

The lowest-rated player in the game

Besides the 56th-minute goal, Neuer also made two additional errors in the 26th and 49th minutes—both involving risky passes in the defensive third, nearly leading to further goals for Barcelona

After the game, Neuer was given a low rating of just 5.2, making him the lowest-rated player on the pitch without question.

Bayern want to extend Neuer’s contract until 2026

Now 38, Neuer’s contract with Bayern is set to expire next summer.

Recently, German media reported that Bayern intends to extend the contract of this legendary goalkeeper until 2026.

Is Neuer still fit to be the starting goalkeeper?

However, given Neuer’s recent form, it remains to be seen whether Bayern’s management will reconsider their decision.

So far this season, Neuer has made 10 appearances for Bayern, all as a starter.
