Liverpool has virtually dropped out of contention for the league title!

In a rescheduled match of the 29th round of the English Premier League, Liverpool suffered a 0-2 defeat against Everton, essentially dropping out of the race for the league title after their derby loss.

Following the match, Liverpool captain Van Dijk heavily criticized the team's performance in an interview, stating, "If we continue to play like we did in this match, then we have no chance of competing for the title.

I'm extremely disappointed in many aspects, and everyone needs to reflect on their performance and consider if they've given their all."

Although Van Dijk didn't explicitly call out which teammates he was disappointed with, it's evident from the derby performance that Arnold, Konate, Salah, and Nunez were among the poorest performers. 

As the team's vice-captain, Arnold continued to display defensive vulnerabilities, with both goals in this match being linked to him. 

The first goal saw him failing to track back as a right-back, while the second involved a severe defensive lapse that allowed Lewin to easily head the ball into the net.

Arnold's mistakes led to Liverpool conceding two consecutive goals.
 

As for Konate, the first goal conceded by Liverpool resulted directly from his own goal-assisting mistake.

Salah and Nunez have become the primary reasons for Liverpool's recent attacking struggles.

The performances of Salah and Nunez were also disappointing

Nunez not only missed a clear-cut chance in this match but also lost all five of his attempted duels.

Salah, on the other hand, attempted seven shots in this match, with only two on target, and his success rate in duels was likewise 0%.

While Nunez's inconsistency due to his young age can be understood, it's harder to accept from Salah, who has been Liverpool's top striker for many years and hasn't scored from open play in quite some time.

Liverpool legend Carragher criticized Salah harshly, saying, "This season, he looks like a shadow of himself. 

He's one of Liverpool's greatest players, but he has strayed far from his path."

Will Liverpool regret not accepting the offer from the Saudi powerhouse for Salah?
 

Last summer, a Saudi powerhouse reportedly offered over £200 million in transfer fees to acquire Salah from Liverpool. 

However, Liverpool, considering Salah's importance to the team, decisively rejected the offer.

Now, it remains to be seen if Liverpool's management will regret their decision in light of Salah's lackluster performances.
