A trophyless season for Chelsea!

After being defeated 0-1 by Manchester City, Chelsea can be said to have been eliminated from all competitions.

Although they can still compete in the Premier League, they are effectively out of the title race.

Additionally, their chances of securing a Champions League qualification spot are remote.

During last summer's transfer window, Chelsea made headlines by splurging a record-breaking €460 million to bring in numerous new players.

However, despite owner Todd Boehly's optimism and a complete overhaul of the team, the results have been surprisingly similar, with little to no improvement.

Currently, Chelsea sits in 9th place in the league with only 47 points, trailing 5th-placed Tottenham by 13 points and Aston Villa by 16 points (with two games in hand).

To catch up with the leading teams, Chelsea not only need to win all their remaining matches but also rely on their competitors, such as Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle, Manchester United, and West Ham, to drop points across the board.

Therefore, Chelsea's chances of securing Champions League qualification are virtually non-existent, and even their hopes of securing a Europa League spot depend on who wins the FA Cup.

Chelsea's performance this season has been disappointing

Even if they were to secure a Europa League spot, the players might not be thrilled because players like Mudryk, who were at their previous clubs, had the opportunity to compete in the Champions League, whereas coming to Chelsea could be seen as a downgrade.

This situation not only rings true but also fully exposes their issues. The penalty shootout in the last game, although seemingly random, reflects the existence of many factions within the team.

With each player being of top quality and attracting interest from many clubs, it is crucial for the head coach to be able to control them. 

However, it is evident that the Argentine lacks this capability, leading to everyone doing their own thing.
