Leverkusen advances to the German Cup final!

In German Cup, Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen swept aside 3rd-placed 2. Bundesliga team Fortuna Düsseldorf with a comfortable 4-0 victory, securing a spot in the final.

Leverkusen remains undefeated for 40 consecutive matches this season, still harboring hopes of challenging for the Bundesliga, German Cup, and Europa League titles.

Due to the significant gap in strength between the two teams, Leverkusen, playing at home, made some changes to their starting lineup.

However, even with these adjustments, Leverkusen effortlessly took the lead just 7 minutes into the game.Jeremie Frimpong broke the deadlock with a powerful shot in the penalty area, giving his team a 1-0 lead.

In the 20th minute, Leverkusen found the net again, with Amine Adli scoring from a pass by Florian Wirtz, extending the lead to 2-0.

In the 35th minute, a mistake by Düsseldorf's defender led to another goal, this time scored by Florian Wirtz, increasing Leverkusen's lead to 3 goals and effectively putting the outcome of the match beyond doubt.

In the second half, Leverkusen continued to press forward. In the 60th minute, Düsseldorf committed a handball in the penalty area, allowing Florian Wirtz to score from the penalty spot, completing his brace. Eventually, Leverkusen emerged victorious with a 4-0 scoreline over Düsseldorf.

In the final, Leverkusen will face another 2. Bundesliga side, FC Kaiserslautern, as they vie for the German Cup title this season. 

With this victory over their opponents, Leverkusen has maintained an unbeaten record in all competitions for 40 matches this season.
