Mainoo is demanding a weekly salary of £200,000!

Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo is demanding a £200,000-per-week salary, according to Manchester Evening News reporter Chris Wheeler.

Mainoo is demanding a salary increase!

If renewal talks fail, the club may be forced to sell him.

Mainoo currently earns £20,000 per week. Since being promoted to the first team in the 2022/23 season, he has played for three seasons, starting 36 league matches and coming on as a substitute three times.

He has accumulated 3,052 minutes of play, contributing 3 goals and 1 assist.

Given Mainoo’s current role and performance in the first team, a salary increase seems reasonable.

However, a jump to £200,000 per week is viewed as excessive since his role and future potential have yet to justify such a figure.

For comparison, Marcus Rashford entered the first team in 2016 and became a regular starter in the 2018/19 season, delivering 12 goals and 6 assists.

Rashford also started with a low salary

Rashford only secured a £200,000-per-week salary after three years on a youth contract.

Moreover, Amad Diallo, who has performed exceptionally well this season, recently renewed his contract at a salary of £90,000 per week.

The recently renewed contract for Diallo has a weekly salary of just £90,000

Recently, a Chelsea-focused blogger reported links between Mainoo and the Blues.

Manchester Evening News editor Samuel Luckhurst also confirmed that Mainoo is unhappy with Manchester United’s contract offer, and Chelsea is indeed interested.

However, Chelsea is also unlikely to offer Mainoo a salary exceeding £150,000 per week.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United does not want to lose Mainoo but will firmly sell him if they cannot reach an agreement, using the funds to bolster their finances.

As a 19-year-old England international, Mainoo could command a transfer fee of at least £70–80 million on the market.

Will Mainoo accept the weekly salary offered by Manchester United, or will he leave?

If Chelsea were to step in and sign him, it might ultimately be a favorable outcome for Manchester United.
