Fabregas Leads Como Toward Serie A Promotion!

According to reports from British media talkSPORT, despite not yet having obtained the UEFA coaching license, Fabregas has led Como to an impressive performance in the Serie B this season. Currently, they are just one victory away from securing promotion to Serie A for the next season.

The last time Como participated in Serie A was back in 2003, after which this Lombardy-based club experienced three consecutive relegations and eventually went bankrupt. During this period, they were relegated to Serie D twice.

In 2019, the Indonesian Djarum Group acquired Como, with Fabregas and Henry becoming minority shareholders of the club.

In the summer of 2022, Fabregas joined Como, marking the final stop of his playing career. Last November, Fabregas took over as the interim head coach of Como despite not having the UEFA coaching license.

Subsequently, Como brought in Welshman Osian Roberts as the interim head coach to lead the team until the end of the season, while Fabregas nominally stepped back to the position of assistant coach. However, in reality, the command of Como still remained in the hands of this former Arsenal and Barcelona player.

Under Fabregas’s coaching, Como achieved a record of 15 wins, 6 draws, and 4 losses in 25 Serie B matches. Currently, after 37 rounds of Serie B matches, Como has accumulated 72 points from 21 wins, 9 draws, and 7 losses, ranking second in the league standings.

In the final round of matches, they only need to defeat a disinterested Cosenza at home to return to Serie A after 21 years.
